The Bluest Eye is a classic novel by nobel prize winner Toni Morrison. The book explores the themes of racism, innocence, and the idea of how being perceived by others affects how you perceive yourself.
For this project the focus was to create an abstract cover that related to one of the themes of the book. The blue flower on the cover is meant to represent not only the literal blue from the title, but as well to be a symbol of innocence. The script and italicized typefaces are used to be complimentary to the flower. The darkness surrounding the flower and wrapping around to the spine is meant to hint at the darker themes of the book.
